Energy Balance
The CO2-emissions saved by the CO2-neutral EUREF Quarter are equivalent to
those of a small German city. Today it already fulfils tomorrows energy
standards. For the balance of the CO2-emission is taken accounted of :
- the CO2-emissions caused by burning natural and bio gas on site
- the CO2-emissions caused by the use of electricity in the power plant
- for the first time: CO2-emissions caused by private transport in the city
- highly insulated buildings and innovative technologies reduce the energy
consumption by 80 % compared to conventional new buildings
- renewable energies cover the energy requirements to a large extend
- the remaining minimal CO2 emissions of approximately 1.800 tons/year are
counterbalanced by a solar power plant in southern Europe
